We love attending the trade shows and with two under our belt we thought we'd give you the low down on both; who we saw, what we loved and what to expect for next year! Our first stop was Dot to Dot London at the end of last month, which was a rather intimate affair with a lovely bijou vibe. Tucked away behind the colourful and effervescent Carnaby Street we found the quaint Vinyl Factory where we were greeted by smiling faces with wristbands at the ready!
Being a relatively small scale trade show meant it was easier to get around the stands and meet more of the brands. It was great to see so many newcomers and a fantastic variety of different styles and themes. We were pleased to see a lot of homegrown British labels alongside a range of fantastic international counterparts.
One of our fave British born brands were Mini Stitches who have an amazing backstory and were winners of the Pirouette 'Ones to Watch' award. They had some really fun and bright coloured patterns with nice, simple cut lines. Look out for their Brand Focus in the next issue!
An international brand we are very excited about is GoGanga. They're a fairly new Italian label and as you would expect they're super stylish but also very cool and edgy! Their 'Brand Focus Q&A' will also be included in our up and coming issue so make sure you keep an eye out for it. We're also hoping to collaborate with them for a sassy editorial with a twist early next year. Without giving too much away GoGanga have an option for custom orders on adult ladies sizes!!!! #MiniMe
NEXT STOP BUBBLE....
So yesterday two of our Lil Rev team attended Day 1 of the renowned Bubble London hosted at the Business Design Centre in Angel. Bubble is huge in comparison to Dot to Dot and is home to a much larger number of brands meaning our girls had their work cut out. There were a number of familiar faces, some old friends who we've worked with over the years and a few new ones we'd previously met at Dot to Dot :)
However, our Fashion Magpies didn't stop there, they kept their beady eyes out for more new friends with delightful treasures and flocked around some exciting newbies. They befriended the lovely Rona, owner of XOKiddo; really trendy organic label, Dutch design but born in London. Def one for the cool cats. They also met the charming and super helpful Chris from Petasil, adorable kids' shoe brand who have a fantastic range of school shoes for girls and boys as well as a beautiful array of coloured shoes!

A few other faves were first timers Blake who are releasing their first collection. Eye-catching, gender neutral clothing from 0-6years with a beautiful mixture of bold colours and geometric patterns. Also Milly'O, another British Brand encompassing gorgeous colourful retro prints with a modern twist. And for the denim lovers 'It's in my Jeans' a quirky take on the usual jeans and jean jackets. We particularly loved the stunning floral embroidery in their next collection, definite statement pieces there!
So to summarise we found gender neutral childrenswear increasingly popular and having two tomboy daughters in our Lil Revo fam we totally get the demand for less pink and frills. Brands who are embracing the power of 'Unisex' clothing and doing it in style are; OTTI, Cribstar, XOKiddo, CarlijnQ, BLA, Blake, Milly'O and Mini Stitches. We also noticed a lot more emphasis on homewear, it's not just the kiddos that like to get kitted out and let's face it who doesn't like to accessorise?! We particularly liked what Wee Gallery had to offer, an interesting monochrome take on Swedish patterns and designs as well as lots of cute animal illustrations. They even do tattoos, how cool is that?
Denim, bold colours and repeated patterns seem to be topping the fashionati lists and we predict yellow to be the must have colour next year....YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST!!!
